Lake Tobosofkee temporarily closed due to possible E. Coli threat

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Swimmers who want to head to Lake Tobesofkee will have to wait before they can hop in the lake.

During its regular testing, the Macon Water Authority found “elevated” numbers of E. coli in lake water Thursday evening according to Macon-Bibb spokesperson Chris Floore.

“The water authority recommended a second testing before making the decision to close the lake temporarily,” Floore said. “We made the decision to go ahead and close the parks just as a precaution.”

Floore says the water authority conducted their second testing around 7:30 a.m. Friday and expect results by late Friday afternoon.
