Lake Joy Primary raises money for kids with cancer with Hats for Hope
Tamra was diagnosed with a germ cell tumor last February. She underwent chemo for three months before having surgery to remove the tumor in her chest. She has been in remission since June.
During Tamra’s treatment, The Cantrell family had the support of Jay’s Hope. Jay’s Hope is a non-profit organization that helps families with children battling cancer.
“They have given us gas cards to help with our travel expenses back and forth to Atlanta,” said Tamra’s Mother, Adrianne Cantrell.
One of the fundraisers Jay’s Hope is hosting “Hats for Hope” in honor of childhood cancer awareness month.
“The kids can also show their support for local kiddos battling cancer by wearing a hat and donating a dollar that goes toward supporting these kids,” explained Christie Johnson, Community Relations Coordinator for Jay’s Hope.
Jay’s Hope raises about 40 thousand dollars a year with this event. All of that money goes toward direct support for Middle Georgia families with kids battling cancer.
Lake Joy Primary raised more than 500 dollars with “Hats for Hope.”
