Kroger customers raise more than $132,000 for Hurricane Florence survivors

ATLANTA, Georgia (41 NBC/WGMT)- Kroger is offering some relief for the survivors of Hurricane Florence.

Customers and associates in the Atlanta Division raised more than $132,000 to help the American Red Cross. The effort was part of an initiative that happened from Sept.17th -26th.

“Kroger customers and associates have always stepped up and consistently come together to help each other and our neighboring communities through their generosity – and this time was no different. We are proud of the support they were able to provide through our Hurricane Florence relief Round Up campaign,” says Felix Turner, Corporate Affairs Manager of Kroger’s Atlanta Division

The company partnered with Pilgrim’s to donate 80,000 pounds of Just BARE chicken for the survivors of Florence. They also partnered with Feeding America, to distribute 750,000 meals to families and local community food banks.

The Kroger Co. Foundation also donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross relief efforts. They provided truckloads of water, food and other emergency supplies to the Low Country Food Bank in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
