‘Kingpin’ Arrested in Telfair County

TELFAIR COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A drug “kingpin” who’s been on the run is behind bars Friday, after Telfair County sheriff’s deputies arrested him on Thursday. 

Jamael Malan Tyson, of Jacksonville, Florida, was arrested on a warrant of conspiracy to traffic in cocaine for his alleged involvement in a major drug trafficking ring between Texas, Miami, and Jacksonville, Florida. 

Tyson was believed to have been staying with a friend in Telfair County when sheriff’s deputies, along with members of the U.S. Marshall’s services, arrested him. 

So far, 11 suspects have been arrested in relation to the drug ring. 

Tyson is currently being held at the Telfair County jail, waiting to be extradited back to Florida. 

His bond is set at $1,000,000.
