Keys Named PBC Basketball AstroTurf Player of the Week

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – Junior Shanteona Keys (Roswell,Ga) was named the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Women’s Basketball AstroTurf Player of the Week. Keys set a season-high in points at 29 in an overtime-road loss at the University of North Georgia, and then followed that performance with a career-high 33 points in a win against GRU Augusta.

Keys totaled 62 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and was a perfect 5-for-5 in free throws in a pair of PBC games that left the Bobcats at 5-3 in the conference and 12-3 overall. She is currently ranked 10th in the PBC in points-per-game with 14.7.

Keys connected on 100 percent of her free throws, 75 percent of her threes going 9-of-12, and 65 percent from the floor on 24-of-37. In the 78-59 win over GRU Augusta, she sank three consecutive threes to propel the Bobcats into a comfortable lead down the stretch.

In addition, she is about to cement herself into the Georgia College record book. Her career point total stands at 1089 and is just seven away from the Bobcats’ No. 13 all-time spot. This past week she moved into the Bobcats’ No. 7 position for all-time free-throws at 238, and she is just four threes away from cracking the Georgia College top-10 career in threes made.
