Kemp Beats Cagle In Georgia Governor GOP Runoff
ATLANTA, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) – With the support and endorsement of President Trump, Secretary of State Brian Kemp beat out Lt. Governor Casey Cagle in the GOP runoff election for governor.
Kemp received nearly 70 percent of Tuesday’s votes. And Cagle received about 31 percent of the votes. Both Governor Deal and the National Rifle Association supported Cagle. But the endorsements were not enough to beat Kemp Tuesday night.
Vice President Mike Pence even made a stop in Macon to encourage voters to stand behind Kemp.
Kemp will now face Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams in November. Abrams is hoping to become the country’s first black female governor.
