Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful starts litter hotline

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One organization is asking Macon-Bibb residents to help keep trash off the county’s streets.

Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful recently launched their “Litter Hotline,” where residents can call in if they see someone throwing trash out of their car.

Executive Director Pam Carswell says she got the idea from keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful.

“I tell people we don’t have a litter problem, our problem is our litterers. So I’m just trying to re-educate everyone to please put your trash is the trash can. Our streets are not where the litter belongs,” Carswell said.

Here’s how it works: someone see a litterer, takes down their license plate number, and the hotline sends the information to the sheriff’s office. The person will get a warning and then a fine if they continue to litter.

The number for the ‘Litter Hotline’ is 478-330-7053.
