Jones County Tax Assessor’s Office correcting property tax assessment notices
GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – This year’s property tax assessment notices in Jones County have an error on them.
The county’s Commercial Tax Appraiser, Emory Crumbley, explains the River North District has a fee specific to that area. When the notices came out, the people that live in that neighborhood didn’t see it on their assessment. It appeared on every other Jones County residents’ notice. No money has been collected since it’s only an assessment.
“Being this is just an estimate of taxes, no, we will not send out another assessment notice duly from the cost of doing that. We did put a notice in the local Jones County newspaper to try and let people know,” explained Crumbley.
The Tax Assessor’s Office will make sure the problem is fixed on the billing notices. Residents can expect their bills by the end of September.
