Jones County sheriff: Recently released inmate arrested in Bibb County on theft charges
A man who was recently released from the custody of Georgia Department of Corrections is now back behind bars.

GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man who was recently released from the custody of Georgia Department of Corrections is now back behind bars.
Jones County Sheriff Butch Reece wrote in a Facebook post on Friday that deputies received a report on Thursday of a stolen vehicle and firearm from a home on McKay Road.
Later that afternoon, Jones County investigators located the vehicle at a home in south Bibb County. Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies made entry into the home and made contact with Dakota James Harper, who deputies say was found to be in possession of the stolen firearm.
Reece says further investigation linked Harper to the stolen vehicle as well. He was taken into custody.
He’s charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of theft by taking and entering auto.
“Harper was released from the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections less than one month ago,” Reece wrote. “Apparently he missed his previous accommodations. I will try to return him to his preferred residence as soon as possible.”
