Two Macon men arrested after break-in at Jones County Animal Shelter
Deputies say the men broke into the shelter to retrieve a dog set to be euthanized. The suspects have been identified as the animal’s former owners.

GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Macon men have been arrested after a break-in at the Jones County Animal Shelter in which a dog was unlawfully removed, according to a news release from the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s says on Tuesday, an investigator, with assistance from the United States Marshals Service and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, took James and Donald Spicer into custody on outstanding warrants for burglary in the 2nd degree.
The investigation began after the shelter was broken into last weekend. According to the release, two people entered the facility without permission and removed a dog that had been scheduled for euthanasia following a past biting incident.
Investigators later identified the suspects as the dog’s former owners.
“We want to thank all agencies involved for their assistance in bringing these individuals into custody,” the sheriff’s office said in the release.
