WRIGHTSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Law enforcement agencies arrested multiple people and seized drugs, firearms and cash during a three-day road check operation across Johnson County, according to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The coordinated Multi-Agency High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) effort took place from Friday, May 2 through Sunday, May 4. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office partnered with Georgia State Patrol and Wrightsville Police Department to set up strategically placed road checks throughout the county.

The release says officers made several arrests for driving under the influence and drug-related offenses. During the road checks, law enforcement seized about 10 grams of methamphetamine and 13 grams of crack cocaine and also confiscated a large amount of U.S. currency suspected to be tied to illegal drug activity.

Several firearms were recovered during the operation, including cases involving possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

“This operation highlights the importance of inter-agency collaboration in keeping our roads and communities safe, Johnson County Sheriff Greg Rowland said. “The results of this HVE effort sends a strong message that illegal activity will not be tolerated in our county.”
