2.2.16 Mercer Basketball’s Jibri Bryan killed in Macon shooting

Mercer basketball senior Jibri Bryan was shot in the head and killed around 4 p.m. on Tuesday,  sitting in a white Chevrolet Monte Carlo outside Flash Floods, located at 1194 Forsyth Street.

Another man was also shot and is at Medical Center, Navicent Health. Investigators are looking for a white Nissan Sentra, possibly a 2012 model.


2.3.16 Arrest made in shooting death of Mercer University basketball player

Bibb County Deputies arrested Jarvis Clinton Miller, his warrant stating he shot Bryan while he was sitting in a car and fled the scene. Miller was found on Orange Street, matching the clothing description that witnesses described. He’s charged with felony murder.

Deputies also found a car from the scene on Orange Terrace.

2.4.16 Mercer University holds candlelight vigil for slain basketball player

Mercer University students, staff, and basketball players came together last night to hold a candlelight vigil in memory of Jibri Bryan. One-by-one people walked over to the players’ bench where Bryan’s jersey and shoes were on display, as a remembrance of the athlete and father who loved the game, and his community.

2.4.16 Investigators search for second suspect in murder of mercer basketball player

Investigators have a warrant out for the arrest of another suspect, but they won’t release the name because they’re afraid he or she will try to run away. Investigators from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office believe two people shot at Jibri Bryan.

“There’s no indication that Mr. Bryan had a weapon or fired a weapon,” said Lt. Randy Gonzalez from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Jarvis Miller is charged with felony murder. He’s at the hospital because he was shot in the chest.

Deputies also found a bottle and money lying outside the car Bryan was using. “We’re going to say it’s a suspicious substance right now. We don’t know what it is, but it has been sent off to the lab to be analyzed,” said Lt. Gonzalez.

33 year old Damion Deray Henderson was arrested Friday in Decatur, wanted for the shooting death of Mercer University basketball player, 23-year old Jibri Bryan.

He was wanted for the shooting death of Mercer University basketball player, 23-year old Jibri Bryan. Bryan was shot and killed Tuesday at a downtown gas station. Henderson is being brought to the Bibb County Jail and is charged with felony murder.

2.7.16 Judge denies bond for man accused of killing Mercer basketball player

Damion Henderson, 33, was denied bond Saturday. He asked to have a commitment hearing. The Bibb County Magistrate Court judge set it for February 22 at 1:30 p.m.

Jarvis Miller, 23, is also charged with murder. Investigators from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office believe the two suspects showed up to the gas station in the same car. Bryan was in a parking spot in a different car. Henderson went up to Bryan’s driver side window and Miller went to Bryan’s passenger side window. Bryan was in the driver’s seat. Investigators said Henderson and Miller both shot at Bryan. Bryan was hit in the head. Miller was hit in the chest.

2.8.16 Injured suspect in fatal shooting of Jibri Bryan released from hospital

Jarvis Clinton Miller, accused suspect in the shooting death of Mercer University basketball player Jibri Brown, has been released from the hospital. Miller was denied bond by a magistrate court judge during his first appearance. He’s being held in the Bibb County jail.

2.9.16 Mercer basketball player to be laid to rest

Mercer basketball player Jibri Bryan’s funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Bryan will be laid to rest at St. James Catholic Church in Savannah, Georgia. 41NBC’s Alexa Rodriguez is attending the funeral. She’ll bring you live updates on 41 Today at 11 a.m.

The 23-year-old grad school student was shot and killed a week ago at the Flash Food gas station in Downtown Macon. Two suspects have been arrested and charged with murder.

Bryan had just entered his last year of graduate school at Mercer University and was recently nominated to the AllState Good Works Team.
