PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The City of Perry has hired Jara Hurt as its new downtown manager.

The city announced in a news release Monday that Hurt will lead efforts tied to Historic Downtown Perry’s growth, business development and community engagement.

According to the city, Hurt is a Perry resident with experience in business outreach, event management and community relations.

She most recently served as operations director for the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce, where the city says she oversaw daily operations and helped coordinate community and business events.

As downtown manager, Hurt will work with downtown merchants, property owners, community partners and residents on business support, special events, beautification initiatives, marketing efforts and economic development programs.

“Historic Downtown Perry is a special place that reflects the heart of our community,” Hurt said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to serve in this role and help support the businesses, events, and partnerships that make downtown such a vibrant destination for residents and visitors alike.”
