GBI: 20-year-old charged with murder after Wilkinson County shooting

Investigators say the victim was found dead inside a home on Morningside Drive early Thursday morning.

IVEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder after a deadly shooting early Thursday morning in Wilkinson County.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Austin Marcus Allred of Ivey is charged with malice murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of 25-year-old Tylan Ar’tavious Horne of McIntyre.

According to the GBI, the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1 a.m. Thursday to a home in the 100 block of Morningside Drive in Ivey and requested GBI assistance with the investigation.

The preliminary investigation revealed Allred entered the home and shot at Horne, striking him, according to the GBI. Agents said Allred left the scene and later returned.

Horne was pronounced dead at the scene.

The GBI said Allred is currently being held at the Wilkinson County Jail.
