Items stolen from over a hundred cars in Warner Robins

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Earlier this month, 41NBC reported the Houston County Sheriff’s Office has seen a rise in people stealing from unlocked cars in the county. Now that same crime is increasing in Warner Robins.

More than 10 cars were hit by thieves in the Lake Joy Road and Lake View Road area over the weekend. Police say Warner Robins residents have reported nearly 120 incidents of people taking their items from unlocked vehicles since the start of the new year.

Warner Robins Police Department’s Public Information Officer Jennifer Parson tells 41NBC the cars were parked in front of homes and the doors were unlocked.

“People feel like they’re safe in their community, it’s their neighborhood, that things like this just don’t happen.  But, what I can say, don’t ever let your guard down. Always lock your car. Always lock up your belongings… don’t leave your purse or valuable items where you can see them,” Parson said.

Witnesses told police they saw a group of middle school aged children Friday night in the neighborhood ringing door bells and then running away.

Although no one has been arrested, police want to know more about the group and if they are involved with the rise in car break-ins. If you have any information, call the Warner Robins Police Department at (478) 302-5378.
