Interfor expanding Perry sawmill

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Governor Brian Kemp announced Monday that Interfor would invest $30 million to expand its Perry sawmill.

Interfor is the largest lumber producer in Georgia. It currently employs more than 1,200 Georgians and operates seven sawmills across the state.

Perry mill manager, Shield Bozeman, spoke about what this investment means for Middle Georgia.

“To be here in Perry, it’s a centralized location for Interfor,” Bozeman said. “There’s a lot of growth, a lot of potential in this area, and that’s really what this project is all about–increasing the growth and potential at this site.”

The expansion will increase both lumber production and log consumption at the mill in Perry.
