Intensity Athletics sending 18 to Junior Olympics

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – 18 Middle Georgia athletes are getting ready for a trip to the Junior Olympics.

They’re going to Norfolk, Virginia at the end of the month with Intensity Athletics, an Amateur Athletic Union track and field program based in Houston County.

They’re coached by Hoy Thurman III, a former runner on the U.S. Air Force track and field team. Even with a coach like that and with all the training they’ve done in this Georgia humidity, they’re still a bit nervous.

“I’ve been against people who are better than me,” says 12-year-old Zakkary Megee, who’s making his first appearance at the Junior Olympics. “I’ve heard about other people who are really good. I don’t want to make a fool of myself, like do really bad or something.”

The 2015 AAU Junior Olympics will be held July 31 through August 8 at Norfolk State University. For more information, click here or check out Intensity Athletics on Facebook.
