Ice skating resumes at Macon Centreplex Monday after technical difficulties

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Summer ice skating at the Macon Centreplex will resume Monday after the rink was closed Sunday.

Courtney Harper, a spokesperson for the Centreplex, tells 41NBC the arena chiller’s breaker tripped early Sunday morning.  Officials feared the ice wouldn’t freeze in time and decided not to open the rink.

Harper says the Centreplex has a plan in place in case the breaker trips again.

Summer ice skating at the facility started on Saturday.  It will continue Monday for regular scheduled sessions at 12 and 5. The sessions continue daily until July 6.
