Hundreds splash into Sandy Beach Water Park in Macon
“I’m so excited…I sing in my car on the way home, I’m so excited,” the parks owner Jeff Franklin said in an interview with 41NBC in June.
A fine tune of splashing water and happy visitors. People wasted no time heading to the park and they have rave reviews.
“It’s been really good. First I went on the lazy river and it was really relaxing and then I went on that yellow slide and it was really fun,” Holly Pettis says.
After years of planning and problems with weather and construction, the first stages of the park are finally completed.
“To see this come to fruition so we can provide the entertainment and make people happy and show them a good time is unbelievable,” Franklin said in that June interview.
There are water attractions everywhere: a lazy river, a pool, a splash pad, and two water slides.
Franklin says there’s room on the 25 acre project around Lake Tobesofkee to build even more attractions.
“We want to cause people to be able to enjoy the afternoon, leave refreshed, and ready to come back the next day,” he said.
The $3 million project is a partnership between Franklin and Macon-Bibb County. Franklin says building the park was worth every penny and hopes everyone takes time to enjoy the water.
