Hundreds enjoy Macon’s Lake Tobesofkee

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Many people spent the day on the grill and at Lake Tobesofkee. Some beach-goers say the day was an opportunity to spend time with their family and friends and wrap up the three day weekend.

“We just bring anybody. Anybody and everybody who wants to come is always welcome to come join us,” Mildred Brock, a Lake Tobo visitor, said.

The temperature was hot and so were the grills.

“Right now I got some chicken wings and some chicken legs and some thighs. After this I’m going to put some pork chops on the grill,” Tyrone Myrick, Lake Tobo visitor, said.

As school let out for the summer, Brock and her kids and grandchildren wanted to make the most out of the three day weekend before heading back to work.

“We’ve been grilling here for at least five years now,” she said.

Beach-goers say it’s an opportunity to get out and enjoy some fun in the sun as well.

“It’s been a great day. I mean, it’s been an awesome day. I mean, everybody out here looking like they’re having a fun time so you know we’re going to do this until it’s time to go,” Myrick said.

Until that time – it’s a moment to appreciate the day and take advantage of every minute.

“It’s a day to rest and relax and no cares and no worries, you know,” Brock said.

Some families said the lake was so packed this year, they had to send people out at 9 a.m. Monday morning to make sure they had a spot to grill and eat out by the lake.
