Houston County schools return to normal after Code Yellow

The schools placed on lockdown were Houston County High School, David Perdue Primary School and David Perdue Elementary School.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –Three schools in Houston County were placed on a Code Yellow as a safety precaution due to an incident reported near their campuses, according to the Houston County School District.

The schools placed on lockdown were Houston County High School, David Perdue Primary School and David Perdue Elementary School.

District officials said the schools, which are located close to one another, initiated the precautionary status while authorities responded to the nearby incident.

In a message sent to parents, David Perdue Primary School Principal Kathy Gibbs said all students were safe and inside their classrooms during the Code Yellow.

“During a Code Yellow, all doors are locked, and no one is able to leave or enter the school,” Gibbs said. “As always, our priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff.”

Officials said the Code Yellow was later lifted, and all schools returned to normal operations.

Gibbs said the precaution was taken due to the nearby incident and praised students for following safety protocols.

“As always, our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff, and I am proud of how students followed our safety protocols,” she said.
