Houston County kicks off Special Olympics
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Houston County Fall Special Olympics kicked off on Thursday.
Middle school athletes played bocce ball, soccer, and softball.
The Houston County Special Olympics Coordinator, Brenda Arnett, said these children look forward to this event all year.
“We involve them like the football team is involved in a sport. It’s just as important to them as if they were playing for the championship. They love it,” explained Brenda Arnett.
On Friday, Elementary students will play a variety of games.
Houston County also hosts a Winter and Spring Special Olympics.
Arnett said the Winter Olympics will be sometime in January.
