Houston County Bears coming off best season since 1993

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It has been three seasons for Houston County’s head coach Von Lassiter on the sidelines, compiling a record of 17-7. Last season, the Bears finished with a 10-3 record, their best since 1993. Key wins against rival schools Warner Robins and Jones County helped boost that mark as they entered the playoffs, where they defeated LaGrange and Sequoya before bowing out in the quarterfinals.

On the offense, Houston County will once again deploy star quarterback Jake Fromm, who leads a charged squad that scored nearly 40 points a game in 2014. He will also have help around him in skilled players WR Darion Anderson and RB Kory Engram.

Defensively, the Bears gave up 21.7 points a game and have five returning starters. That group includes seniors Chase Riley and Myron Jacobs.

Thursday, August 27th will be the first game for the Houston County Bears, as they take the field against rival Veterans at McConnell-Talbert Stadium.
