MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Temperatures will climb into the upper 90s with a chance for a stray shower Friday afternoon.

It’s been arguably the nicest day of the week around Middle Georgia as temperatures and heat indexes are near identical around the region. Rain is not expected through this evening, and overnight skies will be mostly clear. Temperatures should bottom out in the upper 60s and lower 70s with ambient wind out of the north-northwest around 5 mph.

Tomorrow

Friday will see partly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 90s. One or two spots could reach the 100 degree mark. Expect light and variable wind to accompany heat indexes pushing 100 degrees, meaning it will do little to help Middle Georgians cool off. A stray shower or two will be possible in the late afternoon/early evening, however the odds of rain are rather slim.

Overnight skies should feature some scattered cloud cover with low temperatures in the lower 70s. Ambient wind will remain light and variable until it resolves out of the south-southeast by Saturday morning.

It will be sweltering this weekend as temperatures crack 100 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Heat indexes will likely be pushing towards the 110 degree mark by Sunday afternoon. Rain odds will be rather low through the weekend as well, however Sunday’s odds currently look a bit better than Saturday’s. It will continue to get muggier into next week as the heat goes nowhere.
