Holiday Miracles 12-23-14: The Jordan Family

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – 41NBC is ending our Holiday Miracles series Tuesday night with a Macon family who is thankful to be alive and together for Christmas.

“I didn’t know how I was going to do this Christmas at all,” Sheryl Jordan said.

Jordan was going to postpone Christmas this year, after her family escaped a house fire last month. They lost all of their clothes, car, and dog.

“She’s the one that got everybody out of the house,” Jordan said of her youngest daughter, 13-year-old Jalyn. “Once we lost that we lost everything and now we’re struggling, even just trying to be together.”

41NBC wanted to make the holiday a little easier for the mother of three teenagers. We got an email from Jalyn’s school asking for help and we delivered.

With a little help from our sales associate, Julia and her son, along with Fred from our Holiday Miracles sponsor, TBO Insurance, we brought in bags filled with clothes for everyone. Plus new tablets and MP3 players for Jalyn, 16-year-old Niya, and 18-year-old Walter. But that was not all.

“Here’s a $100 gift card to Publix and a $50 gift card to Kroger so you can have a nice holiday meal,” 41NBC’s Amanda Castro said to Jordan.

But there is something else we gave this family that you can’t wrap or put in a box.

“You brought a lot of joy and we appreciate you for that,” Jordan said. “They got what they want from you all and you all helped out a lot. And it’s going to be a whole lot better.”

It’s a merry Christmas for this family who lost so much. But they have each other, and that is a true holiday miracle.

Jordan is currently living out of a hotel and her kids are staying with family. She is looking for a job, but is having a hard time finding one without a car.
