Holiday Miracles 12-17-14: The Williams Family

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – 41NBC kicked off our Holiday Miracles series with a Perry family whose year didn’t go the way they planned.

Tammy Williams lost someone very special to her on Halloween. Every day since then has been a struggle.

The Williams family was more than excited when we showed up at their home with gifts in hand.

41NBC learned about Tammy and her family after her boss, Jackie Jordan, wrote a letter to us explaining why they are so deserving of a Holiday Miracle.

Her oldest daughter lost her father in a drive-by shooting. Tammy lost her home and vehicle due to financial hardship. She lost her youngest daughter, Zaria Miller, to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome on Halloween.

Tammy remembers her daughter as a happy, bright-eyed baby who was very advanced for her age. She couldn’t find the words to describe how big a loss this was for her.

“Time… it’s like it just flying by and we don’t know where the day is going,” Tammy said.

After a tough year, all Tammy wanted to do was give her children the memorable Christmas they needed. Before 41NBC stepped in, Tammy didn’t know how she was going to do that.

“It sure made it a lot brighter for my kids. That much is true. I’m just grateful. I appreciate it,” Tammy said.

Tammy’s children felt the same way. Denia Williams is the oldest of the four children. Her only wish was to see her younger siblings happy.

“God’s given us more stuff. He took some and given us something back,” said Denia.

The Williams family can’t thank Jackie enough for sharing their story with us.

“Thank you for everything you’ve done for me, for my mom. I hope you have blessings coming your way too,” said Denia.
