Holiday Miracles 12-17-12: The Broadus Family
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — From the moment 41NBC’s crew walked in the door at Kim Broadus’ house, it was easy to see Kim’s personality.
She said with a smile, “I was kind of scared, because I was like, I don’t want to be on the news.”
In a letter to 41NBC, Kim’s sister Tameka Broadus wrote “I have a sister named Kimberly Broadus and she is the nicest and sweetest person in the world. I think she needs a holiday miracle because we just lost our daddy in June and she has been homeless for the last 2 years…”
A single mother of four, the kids lost a father and two grandfathers in less than a year.
“He was a good person. He called them his babies,” said Kim.
She continued with, “He took care of them no matter what they did. Day and night, he was always there for them. It’s still hard trying to deal with him being gone.”
To brighten the holidays, 41NBC teamed up with several sponsors around the community and surprised Kim with new bikes for her kids, clothes for the family, a baby doll, a pantry full of food, and a Publix gift certificate.
“As long as they’re happy, I’m happy,” said Kim talking about her children.
Christmas came early for Kim and her kids. After a year of struggle, it was time to open presents.
