Highway 341 in Monroe County renamed after fallen deputy

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Highway 341 in Monroe County will now be called the “Michael Andrew Norris Memorial Highway.”

Commissioners passed a resolution Tuesday night to rename the highway after the fallen deputy from the Lamar County line to the Crawford County line.

Deputy Norris was shot on September 13th when he responded to a suicide call. He died from his injuries.

“It will honor his legacy for many, many years and we will remember him in this county for what he did. He was a dedicated, nice person,” Commissioner Larry Evans said.

Commissioners plan to create a statue at the roundabout near Culloden as another way to honor Deputy Norris.
