Heavy storms knock down trees in Kathleen

KATHLEEN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Several Houston County residents woke up this morning to downed trees in their front yards.

Thursday night’s severe weather in Kathleen left debris throughout neighborhoods near Kovac Road. Nita Foster says she heard the storm, but she never expected to find one of the biggest trees in her yard blocking her driveway.

“We’ve had trees and stuff, you know, fall when we get high storms, bad storms or high winds, but I’ve never had this kind of damage to our properties,” Foster said.

Road crews spent the morning clearing lanes down Highway 247 clearing paths near Foster’s house.

She says her family will end up giving away firewood to her neighbors using the fallen trees.
