Heavy rain causes minor flooding on I-75
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Heavy rain caused flooding along portion of Interstate 75 Thursday in Macon, causing a traffic jam that stretched for at least two miles.
It happened on the southbound portion of the interstate about a mile from the I-75/I-16 split. Around 7 p.m., a Bibb Sheriff’s Office deputy was parked in the middle of the highway with his blue lights flashing as cars slowly drove single-file through the partially flooded roadway.
Chief Meteorologist Chris Simmons expects things to dry out Thursday night but says more heavy rain is possible throughout the weekend.
