Heat dome returns for the weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – High pressure will develop over the Southeastern US, leading to hot and humid conditions with little opportunity for rain.
This Evening
Partly sunny skies from the afternoon will give way to mostly clear conditions as the sun sets. No rain is expected tonight, however humidity will begin to uptick a bit as the wind becomes variable and eventually resolves out of the southwest. Overnight lows will mainly be in the lower 70s, however the coolest spots may still drop below 70.
Tomorrow
It will be hot again around Middle Georgia Saturday as highs reach the upper 90s and lower triple digits with heat indexes across the board eclipsing 100 degrees. While a stray shower or two will be possible, most of the region will see no rain. Wind will be gentle out of the south-southwest throughout the afternoon.
Overnight skies should again be mostly clear, however some cirrus clouds may stick around. Lows will be in the low to mid 70s as the wind remains out of the south-southwest.
Sunday and Beyond
It will be even hotter Sunday as highs hover around 100 degrees with heat indexes pushing north of 105. Wind will remain gentle from the southwest, and rain odds will still be slim, though slightly higher than Saturday.
Rain chances should climb a bit more next week as the influx of humidity from southwesterly wind flow increases the odds for afternoon pop up storms. A bit of a cooldown looks possible late next week.
