Harvey threatens Texas, but a nice weekend is in store for Middle GA
We saw a cool down and plenty of sun across Middle Georgia today and more is on the way as we head into the weekend. As great as our weather is here all eyes are on Hurricane Harvey as it rapidly intensifies in the Gulf. Right now, Harvey is expected to strengthen and become the first major hurricane to hit the US since 2005 (Hurricane Wilma made landfall as a Category 3 storm in October of 2005). As of the latest forecast Harvey could become a Category 3 Hurricane with 150 mph winds. The threat isn’t winds alone it is also catastrophic flooding with some areas of coastal Texas forecast to receive anywhere from 12-20″ of rain. This slow moving system could bring rain to the coast of Texas and Louisiana for quite a few days, before finally moving East.
Meanwhile, here in Georgia we are anxiously awaiting a cool down that should be here by the end of the weekend and into next week! Expect highs to make it only into the mid 80’s for much of the week. Also, high school football is back and I will be at the Washington Co. vs. Jones Co. game for The Endzone where the weather will be warm and sunny, with temperatures cooling into the 70’s during the game.
Have a great evening!
