HANCOCK COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Hancock County School District is making changes to its schedule next week in anticipation of winter weather, according to a Facebook post from the district.

Schools will already be closed Monday, January 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. On Tuesday, January 21, schools will dismiss early, giving students and staff time to safely return home before the expected winter weather arrives Tuesday afternoon.

The district announced that Wednesday, January 22, will be an asynchronous learning day, allowing students to complete assignments from home. To help families prepare, breakfast and lunch items will be sent home with students on Tuesday afternoon.

“We are sharing these updates early so families can make necessary preparations,” the post stated.

The district says families can stay updated by checking its website and Facebook page for any further announcements.
