Felon arrested for gun possession at local credit union

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Macon man recently for possession of a firearm by a felon.

Deputies responded to the Robins Financial Credit Union on Log Cabin Drive about an irate customer.

Deputies say when they arrived, the employees stated that 23-year-old James Jereal Watson got irate when he failed to produce a valid identification to access his account.

Deputies say that when employees asked Watson to leave the building, he refused.

Authorities say that Watson was in his vehicle when deputies approached him. Deputies say they smelled marijuana coming from Watson’s vehicle.

Authorities say deputies checked the vehicle and found a pistol. They determined that Watson was on probation at the time.

Deputies took Watson to the Bibb County Jail and charged him with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Authorities set Watson’s bond at $5,700.00.
