Gordon residents try to get Mayor Whipple-Lue removed from office
IRWINTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Concerned Citizens of Gordon and Mayor Mary Ann Whipple-Lue are squaring off once again in Wilkinson County Superior Court.
The group, who claims Whipple-Lue holds illegal meetings and moves city funds without consent, is trying to get her removed from office.
Monday’s hearing included testimony from Whipple-Lue, the city clerk, and two council members.
The hearing continues Tuesday morning at 9:00.
WILKINSON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A bench trial is set for Gordon Mayor Mary Ann Whipple-Lue.
This morning around 9:00 a.m. Judge Robert Reeves heard the complaint filed by Gordon City Council Member Terry Eady.
For more than two years, the Concerned Citizens of Gordon, along with Eady, say Whipple-Lue violated open meeting laws and misappropriated city funds.
