Golfers hit the links for Christmas fundraiser

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The days of the roaring 20’s came to life, as dozens of golfers hit the links to help raise money for the less fortunate.

The 6th annual Glad Rags Golf Tournament was held Friday at Riverforest Country Club in Forsyth.

More than 20 golfers dressed in attire from the 1920’s.  The proceeds will be used to help make Christmas special for some local families.

“I think sometimes we take it for granted, we have so much,” says Danny Gibson, the founder of the golf tournament.  “Some people have so much given to them and others do not.  And, we just want to help families that might be struggling a little bit. They might need a little help during this time of year.”

United Way co-sponsored the golf tournament with the Glad Rags Foundation.

In 2012, they raised three-thousand dollars.  This year, event organizers want to raise even more money.
