He served as the President of the Alumni Board of Directors, was a member of the GMC Board of Trustees for three years was also a member of the GMC Foundation since 1986, eventually becoming its Chairman in 2021. “At Georgia Military College, we impart to our students the importance of being an authentic servant leader, and there is no better demonstration of how to be that than David Grant,” GMC President, Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, USA (Ret), said. “He touched GMC in so many ways. You may not have known he was even involved with something or volunteering his time but it was never a surprise when you found out he was behind some initiative. We refer to our students, faculty, staff, donors, and friends as our ‘GMC Family,’ and David was the prime example of what that represents. Though we miss him greatly, David’s legacy of leadership will forever be remembered at Georgia Military College.”
GMC has established the David Maxwell Grant Sr. Memorial Scholarship, in partnership with Grant’s family, which “will provide assistance to deserving students who embody the values and principles that Grant held dear,” the release said. “GMC aims to ensure that his spirit of generosity and selfless service continues to impact the lives of future generations of students at Georgia Military College.”
