GMC holds annual Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — May 15 is Peace Officers Memorial Day across the nation—a day to honor those who’ve fallen while serving as a member of law enforcement.
Georgia Military College honored two fallen heroes with a ceremony Wednesday.
Deputy Will Robinson and Special Agent Sonny King were recognized with a special wreath laying.
Law enforcement officers across Baldwin County gathered to remember them.
GMC students were also at the ceremony, which William B. Caldwell IV, President of GMC, says allowed them to learn about duty, honor and country.
“When you stop to think about it, they are never sure what’s going to happen when they go to work,” Caldwell said.
In a time of division, John Melvin, the Assistant Director for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, says they are here to help.
“You do what’s right, even when it’s not easy,” Melvin said.
GMC says it will continue to set time aside each year to remember its alumni.
