Gibson pitches first nine-inning complete game, Twins win

ATLANTA (AP) – Kyle Gibson pitched his first nine-inning complete game and the Minnesota Twins overcame two hits from hyped prospect Dansby Swanson in his big league debut to beat the Atlanta Braves 10-3 on Wednesday night.

Juan Centeno drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth, and Minnesota swept the two-game series of the major leagues’ two worst teams.

The Braves showed why they’re five games worse than the Twins, dropping to 18-41 at home despite Swanson’s strong debut in his hometown.

Gibson (5-7) began the night with a 7.98 ERA in three starts this month, but he had little trouble dominating the majors’ weakest offense.

Eric O’Flaherty (1-4) gave up three runs over one inning for Atlanta.
