Georgia State Fair Leaves Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – After more than 160 years in Macon, the Georgia State Fair has packed up its stakes and is leaving for good.

According to the Associated Press, over the last few years, declining revenues in Macon affected the fair. Hank Clark, a former member of the fair’s board of directors, says central Georgia has lost a great asset.

The fair is moving north to the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton. It’s set to open this Friday.
