Georgia Military Child Education Training Hopes to Embrace More Military Families

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Educators, state legislators, and representatives from the Department of Education are coming together in Kathleen to help military children.

Houston County’s Board of Education is teaming up with Robins Air Force Base for the third annual Georgia Military Child Education training.

They’ll also host training provided by the Military Child Education Coalition.

The goal is to teach educators how to help students in military families adjust after moving multiple times.

Superintendent Robin Hines adds it’s important to help kids transition both socially, and academically.

“It gives us an avenue to teach about what it is that you can do, to make sure that we do right by those kids and make sure they graduate on time and do those things. Things we should be doing, and the interstate compact really helps us as a guideline to do that and this is really promoting that,” Hines said.

The third annual Georgia Military Child Education Training is on Monday October 28th, at Veterans High School in Kathleen, from 12:30 p.m. until 4:00 pm.
