Georgia College softball receives votes in NFCA national poll fox sixth consecutive week
Georgia College received 19 votes this week in the ninth poll released, its highest total since the fifth poll when it received 34 votes March 12. It is the second time that the Bobcats found themselves at the cusp of breaking into the elite at an unofficial No. 26.
The Bobcats may have played a hand in conference opponent Armstrong Atlantic State University’s drop from No. 4 to No. 12. Georgia College out-hit the Pirates in a pair of games last weekend, but had to settle with a split. Other nationally-ranked opponents the Bobcats have beaten this season include then-No. 23 Barry University and previously-No. 21 Anderson University.
Another Peach Belt Conference (PBC) opponent, University of North Georgia moved up four spots to the No. 8 position in the most recent poll. The Nighthawks are the only team to beat the Bobcats in both games of a doubleheader this season.
Georgia College returns to action Saturday, April 12 when they travel to USC Aiken (29-12, 12-6 PBC) for a pair of PBC games starting at 2 p.m. The Bobcats trail the Pacers in the PBC standings by a game, with the latter holding down the third spot in the PBC.
