Georgia Chamber and GEEARS honor family-friendly employers

The Georgia Chamber and GEEARS have announced the recipients of the Best Place for Working Parents®—Georgia Innovator Award. This honor recognizes organizations across the state that lead in supporting working families. Childcare challenges remain a significant issue for Georgia’s workforce and economy, with GEEARS research estimating at least $2.52 billion in lost economic activity and $131.7 million in tax revenue each year. Many parents have been forced to leave or change jobs, missing an average of 10 days of work in six months due to childcare issues. Additionally, 7 percent of Georgians have delayed or decided against having more children due to these costs. Research shows remote work raises productivity by 13%, childcare assistance nearly quadruples employee motivation, and parental leave makes high performers 50 times more likely to stay.

Georgia issues more than $1 billion in special tax refunds

Governor Brian Kemp has announced that Georgia is issuing one-time special tax refunds totaling over $1 billion, the result of a balanced state budget. Most eligible taxpayers who filed 2024 and 2025 returns will soon receive refunds: $250 for single filers, $375 for heads of household, and $500 for married couples filing jointly. Residents can check their eligibility and refund status online through the Georgia Tax Center.
