Gas prices hit highest level since 2022

U.S. gas prices have surged to their highest level since August 2022, with AAA reporting a national average of $4.22 per gallon on Wednesday. In Georgia, the average price is $3.70 per gallon, up more than ten cents from last week. Mother’s Day spending expected to break records amid scam warnings

The National Retail Federation expects Mother’s Day spending to reach a record $38.1 billion this year, with 84% of U.S. adults planning to celebrate and average spending per person rising to $284.25. However, the Better Business Bureau is warning shoppers to stay vigilant, as increased online and in-store activity is leading to a rise in scams and consumer complaints. Experts recommend starting shopping early, verifying online sellers, double-checking website URLs, understanding return and refund policies, and always using secure payment methods.
