GC Soccer Drops Regular-Season Finale at Flagler, 2-0
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (GCSU RELEASE) – The Georgia College women’s soccer team (8-7-2, 5-4-1 PBC) dropped its final match of the regular season Saturday, a Peach Belt Conference (PBC) contest at Flagler College (6-10-2, 2-7-2 PBC) 2-0.
The Bobcats managed to get three shots off in the first half of the contest, both defenses holding strong with a 0-0 tie after one period of play. The Saints outshot Georgia College 6-3 in the first half.
The first goal of the match came from Haley Powers of Flagler in the 69th minute, her second of the season. Flagler added another goal with 26 minutes left in the match off the foot of Jessica Jagielski marking her second of the season, pushing the match further out of reach.
The Bobcats managed to out-shoot the Saints 9-7 in the second half and had 12 on the day. Ally Barys (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) and Liz Franco (Alpharetta, Ga.) led Georgia College with three for the match.
Jessica Catapano (Alpharetta, Ga.) played all 90 minutes for the Bobcats earning four saves during the loss. Casey Merson recorded the seven-save shutout for the Saints.
Georgia College finishes the season with 17 points, clinching the No. 6-seed in the PBC Tournament. It looks like the Bobcats will travel to No. 3-seed Armstrong Atlantic State University Tuesday, Nov. 5 for first-round action. More details to come.
