GC Men’s XC Places Fourth in GSW Remembrance Run
AMERICUS, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – The Georgia College men’s cross country team opened up the 2013 season at the GSW Remembrance Run, placing fourth out of nine teams. The event was hosted by Georgia Southwestern State University.
Sophomore Trevor Turner (Snellville, Ga.) led the way for the Bobcats, posting a time of 27:14, good for 17th place overall. Classmate Paul McNeil (Dunwoody, Ga.) crossed the finish line just hundredths of a second behind Turner in 18th place.
The Bobcats also took 19th and 20th place overall, with sophomore James Ryden (Atlanta) finishing with a time of 27:28 and freshman Matt Sutton (Norcross, Ga.) posting a 27:28 as well in his first collegiate race. Michael Warrick (Marietta, Ga) rounded out the top five for the Bobcats, finishing 22nd overall with a time of 27:35.
The Bobcats had 96 points, only three behind third place Columbus State University. Morehouse College took second place, while Georgia Regents University Augusta won the team title. Individual title honors went to Job Kemboi of Clayton State University.
The cross country team will be back in action Sept. 13 when they host the Bobcat Invitational.
