GC men’s basketball signs NAIA transfer

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GC ATHLETICS RELEASE) – The Georgia College men’s basketball program and head coach Mark Gainous announced the signing of Evyn Smith Tuesday.

“I am thrilled that Evyn signed with us,” said Gainous. “The point guard position was a priority this offseason with Aaron Robinson graduating. Evyn can handle the ball, makes smart decisions with the ball and is a good on-ball defender. We feel really good about adding him to our team.”

Smith joins the Bobcats after playing his freshman year at Southern Polytechnic State University (NAIA) in Marietta, Ga. He started 25 games at point guard for the Hornets this past season where he led the team with 122 assists while committing only 66 turnovers.

Smith averaged 6.6 points, 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game and shot 44 percent from the floor. He played his high school basketball at Shiloh High in Snellville, Ga.

The 2014-15 edition of Georgia College men’s basketball looks to kick off the season in mid-November. Stay tuned to www.GCBobcats.com for more information.
