GC Bobcat Volleyball Falls in Three at GRU Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – The Georgia College volleyball team (4-16, 1-9 PBC) lost a tight three-set battle at GRU Augusta (6-15, 1-9 PBC) 25-22, 25-22 and 25-13 Tuesday night.
The first two sets were hotly-contested, with the Bobcats leading in the first set as late as 21-20. After a kill by Rachel Reynolds (Marietta, Ga.) knotted it up at 22-22, GRUA put down the final three points for the win.
In set two, the Bobcats were down 23-18, the Bobcats scored four points in a row, capped by a Jaguar attack error to tighten it up 23-22, but could get no closer.
“It was a good all-around team effort,” said head coach Gretchen Krumdieck. “We are learning a lot about ourselves as a team. We will continue to work on keeping the momentum on our side.”
Reynolds finished with 10 kills to lead the Bobcats, seconded by nine from Caroline Long (Roswell, Ga.), hitting .333. Caroline Ham (Marietta, Ga.) led the squad with 12 digs, while Micayla Patterson (Tyrone, Ga.) had 28 assists.
Georgia College was out-hit .116 to .295. The Jaguars were led by Kristen Koch at 14 kills.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m., traveling to Columbus State University.
