GC Baseball Ranked 32nd in Preseason Top 40
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (GCSU RELEASE) – Georgia College Baseball head coach Tom Carty and his squad have sealed a spot at No. 32 in the National Rankings released recently by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Five teams from the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) captured spots and three others received votes. The Peach Belt has more ranked teams than any other conference in the nation.
USC Aiken took the highest spot for a PBC team at No. 14. They were then followed by No. 21 Lander University, No. 23 UNC Pembroke, No. 32 Georgia College, and No. 33 University of Montevallo. Francis Marion University, Armstrong Atlantic State University, and Columbus State University all received votes.
The defending PBC Tournament Champions will go on the road during the regular season to face ranked opponents Lander and Montevallo. They will face a three game series first against Lander at the beginning of April and then Montevallo at the end of the month.
The Bobcats will face off against No. 1 ranked University of Tampa, Feb. 15 and Feb. 16. Minnesota State-Mankato captures the No. 2 spot, and they are accompanied by No. 3 St. Edward’s University, No. 4 University of West Florida and No. 5 Mount Olive College.
