UPDATE: GBI investigating after woman killed during warrant execution

LIZELLA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reports the woman killed in an officer-involved shooting is 25-year-old Kaley Dee Gay.

Tuesday morning, Bibb County Deputies and the U.S. Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force were serving an arrest warrant at a home in the 5500 block of Fulton Mill Road in Lizella.

The Fugitive Task Force arrested 34-year-old Robert Williams.

The GBI reports that deputies then noticed Gay had active warrants. As Gay was being searched, the GBI says she concealed her hand into her pocket and pulled out a small semi-automatic pistol. She fired one round and attempted to chamber another round. The officer that was searching Gay returned fire, striking Gay twice.

Gay was transported to the Navicent Health Center in Macon where she was pronounced deceased.

The GBI will conduct its independent investigation. Once complete, it will be turned over to the Bibb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
